Fashion Fabulous - Petals & Poises Dress

American Girl Spirit

Fashion Fabulous

My American Girl Truly Me Doll #22, Elle is wearing the Petals & Poises Dress. The dress is made of a pale turquoise crinkle-chiffon material and is fully lined. It has beautiful flower sequinned embroidery around the bottom of the skirt and a ruffled hemline.  The petal sleeves and the pretty ribbon sash are nice accents to the dress. The dress also comes with ruffled toe shoes and a jewelled barrette. I also added Saige's necklace and hooped earrings with flower petaled studs, to give the outfit some extra dazzle.
This Petals & Poises Dress was part of the My American Girl Collection in 2012 and retired in 2013. This dress also came in girls sizes 6-16, so that girls could wear matching dresses with their dolls.
I think Elle look absolutely stunning in this dress and it has easily become one of my favourites.

Photo Of The Week - Samantha Parkington

American Girl Spirit

Photo Of The Week

Samantha Parkington is off for a bicycle ride on a beautiful sunny summer day. She is riding her shiny new bicycle that was a gift from Uncle Gard. The bicycle has a deep dark pink frame with white accents and tires, a faux-leather seat and, a stamped floral chain guard. The bicycle also has a triangle shaped kickstand which is great for keeping the bike upright and balanced. There is a woven basket attached to the front of the bike for Samantha to carry her pretty bouquet of flowers. The beautiful sunflowers are tied with a pink satin ribbon, which is a nice touch.

When Samantha goes cycling she wears her Bicycling Outfit. Proper young ladies wore dresses in Samantha's day with the exception of when they rode bicycles. The outfit includes a wide straw hat with a grosgrain ribbon, a gorgeous white eyelet blouse with long puffy sleeves, houndstooth-checked bloomers, removable gaiters that help keep her legs from getting dirty and a pink hair-bow to tie back her long locks. Samantha loves the freedom of this outfit and it looks super fabulous on her.
Samantha's Bicycle and Bicycling Outfit are still available on the American Girl website.

Fashion Fabulous

American Girl Spirit

                Fashion Fabulous

Today's American Girl Fashion Outfit is being worn by Grace Thomas, GOTY 2015. Grace is wearing the Plaid Party Dress from the My American Girl Collection released in 2013. The dress has a pretty pink and blue plaid print with a sash that ties at the waist. It is accented with pink lace at the neck & hem line. The full skirt with button details adds to the cuteness of this dress. The outfit also comes with blue sandals and a pink diamond-shaped barrette. The dress is easy to put on and taken off the doll as it has a velcro strip down the back.
The Party Plaid Dress is also available for girls in sizes 6-16 and is still available on the American Girl website. The Plaid Party Dress for dolls was retired in the spring of 2015, so you would have to look on other sites for the doll dress.
I think Grace looks very pretty in this dress and it really makes her blue eyes stand out. The Plaid Party Dress is very fashionable and a great summer outfit addition to any dolls wardrobe. It's a keeper! :)

REVIEW on AG's Styling Chair

American Girl Spirit

Styling Chair

This video is a review on American Girl's Styling Chair. I will be opening, demonstrating and reviewing the styling chair during this video. Hopefully this will help in your decision on whether or not to purchase this American Girl Product.

Comments: I give the Styling Chair a 2 star rating. I don't consider this product to be age appropriate for 8+, as it is a difficult and frustrating product to use. The chair is made of high quality materials. The sturdy metal base provides good stability. The sparkly vinyl upholstery is durable, and easily wipes clean with a damp cloth. The seat belt holds the doll securely in place and the footrest keeps her comfortable.
The appearance of the pink sparkly styling chair gives a fun, bright, and bold look. The swivel movement is a nice feature. Unfortunately, I find it moves too freely and the chair doesn't hold its position well. This makes it difficult to style the dolls hair. The suction cup is unreliable, as it comes unattached with minimal force. The play value of the Styling Chair is definitely affected by the reclining and suction problems. The Styling Chair is a super awesome idea, but needs a few improvements to make it more playable with American Girl dolls.

Independence Day

American Girl Spirit

 Happy 4th of July!

Today marks the 239th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence for the United States of America. You can see the original copy of the Declaration on display at the National Archives in Washington DC.
Did you know there is more than one copy of the declaration of Independence? The copies were printed at a shop owned by John Dunlop, the copies are known as the "Dunlop broadsides". These copies were sent to the colonials to be read aloud to the people who could not read. Only 26 Dunlop broadsides are known to have survived, even though hundreds were printed. Two were found in the last 26 years. One was found in 1989 by a  Philadelphia man, it was hidden in a frame that he purchased for $4 at a flea market. Another was found in a box of papers at the British National Archives in 2009.
A copy of the Declaration of Independence reached New York City July 9th, 1776. George Washington read aloud the Dunlop broadside in front of city hall. The words were so inspiring that the people listening started a riot, and later that day they tore down a statue of George III.
